About the Journal

Takafu: Journal of Tafsir and Gender Perspective is an academic journal published by the Department of Islamic Education, the Faculty of Education, and Teacher Training, Universitas Islam Bandung, Indonesia. The journal is published twice a year (in April and October). Takafu is a scholarly journal dedicated to exploring the intersection of Tafsir (Quranic exegesis) and gender perspectives. The journal seeks to delve into the rich tradition of Islamic interpretation while critically examining gender dynamics within religious texts and contexts. Takafu provides a platform for scholars, researchers, and practitioners to engage in nuanced discussions, rigorous analysis, and interdisciplinary dialogue regarding the interpretation of the Quran through a gender lens. It aims to foster a deeper understanding of how gender influences interpretations of scripture and how interpretations, in turn, shape societal norms and practices. Through insightful articles, thought-provoking essays, and comprehensive reviews, Takafu aims to promote inclusivity, diversity, and gender equality within the realm of Islamic scholarship in English. It is a peer-reviewed and open-access journal.
