Abstract

Lipstick is a cosmetic preparation that serves to provide color to thelips. Lead (Pb) is a heavy metal that is accumulative and toxic. Lead has the property of beingsoluble in oil so that it is easily absorbed through the membranes or layers of the skin if the metal lead (Pb) is mixed intentionally in the lip color. intentionally incosmetic products and directly in contact with human skin. Objectiveof this study is to analyze the lead (Pb) content and determine the level of lead (Pb) in lipstick. lead (Pb) in lipsticks sold online in Samarinda City.in Samarinda City. Using UV-Visible spectrophotometric method. The results of the research obtained from 15 lipstick samples samples analyzed showed there were 6 lipstick samples, namely sample A7 (207 mg/kg), B1 (91.65 mg / kg), B2 (40.8 mg / kg), B3 (103.95 mg / kg), B4 (113.55 mg / kg), B5 (119.5 mg/kg) which have Lead (Pb) levels exceeding the BPOM requirements, namely ≤ 20 mg/kg. Conclusion of the research. The conclusion of this study is that there are still many lipsticks that do not meet health requirements and can be harmful to consumer health.
