Peran Motif Pada Hubungan Konsep Diri dan Perilaku Problematic Gaming pada Gamers MOBA

Konsep diri dan motif sebagai dimensi penentu perilaku, banyak dipelajari kontribusinya pada perilaku yang bermasalah termasuk adiksi bermain online game. Identitas baru yang diciptakan gamers didunia virtual game, nyatanya kerap membuat gamers lebih nyaman untuk berinteraksi didalamnya, hingga menjadi amat terpaku untuk terus-menerus bermain game. Satu dari tujuh motif gaming yakni motif escape atau melarikan diri dari permasalahan didunia nyata, diduga memberikan kontribusi pada hubungan antara konsep diri gamers dan perilaku gaming addiction. Untuk membuktikan hal tersebut, studi korelasional ini dilakukan pada 291 gamers MOBA berusia dewasa yang mengalami adiksi. Instrumen pengukuran yang digunakan adalah Tennessee Se1f Concept Sca1e (TSCS), Game Addiction Scale, serta Motives for Online Gaming Questionnaire (MOGQ). Analisa deskriptif digunakan untuk menggambarkan data demografi serta analisa model mediasi dari Hayes (2013). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara konsep diri gamers MOBA dengan gaming addiction dan motif escape memiliki dampak yang mendekati signifikan pada hubungan keduannya.
