Communities have knowledge and perceptions passed down from one generation to the next through community participation in their environment. This activity aims to reveal the community's knowledge regarding the role of leopard cats in the Cisokan. The implementation of this activity consists of collecting issues and data, FGD, and evaluation. The results show that almost all informants do not know the role of leopard cats in controlling prey animal populations and agricultural pests. Although leopard cats prey on domestic birds, they are not considered a nuisance to the community. After a joint discussion with the community regarding the ecological role of leopard cats, 79% of informants understood leopard cats' role in nature, which indirectly supported agriculture. Besides that, 70% of respondents understand that leopard cats should be protected.
Erri Noviar Megantara Teguh Husodo Dwi Rustam Kendarto Asep Zainal Mutaqin Sya Sya Shanida Indri Wulandari Copyright (c) 2024 ETHOS: Jurnal Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat 2024-01-24 2024-01-24 12 1 1 8 10.29313/ethos.v12i1.2603 Increasing Added Value in Basalt Rocks for Making Basalt Fiber https://journals.unisba.ac.id/index.php/ethos/article/view/2903
Andesite and basalt are generally mined materials used only for building (construction). To increase the added value, basalt rock is currently starting to be widely used as a construction material that is converted into composites with fiber reinforcement. In this initial research, the aim is to examine the characteristics of basalt rock at three locations in the Greater Bandung area (Gunung Bohong, Cipatik, and Batu Templek), including its chemical composition, physical and mechanical properties, and mineral composition. The research methodology is carried out on three rock characteristics that can be used as basalt fiber, namely the XRF method to determine chemical composition (Al2O3 and SiO2), physical and mechanical testing, as well as the petrographic analysis method to discover mineral composition by examining the presence of Plagioclase minerals. The results of the chemical analysis of all samples are suitable, but there are chemical compounds that do not match the parameters, namely Fe2O3 + FeO and MgO. Samples from Cipatik and Batu Templek are suitable. The physical properties test is also suitable. For mechanical property testing, only samples from Gunung Bohong and Cipatik are suitable. Petrographic tests conclude that the three rock samples fit into the basaltic andesite rock category.
Yuliadi Zaenal Elfida Moralista Jerry Dwifajar Prabowo Noufal Abhinaya Copyright (c) 2024 ETHOS: Jurnal Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat 2024-01-24 2024-01-24 12 1 9 16 10.29313/ethos.v12i1.2903 Application of Mud Suction Technology to Lakes in Kaduela Village, Pasawahan District, Kuningan Regency https://journals.unisba.ac.id/index.php/ethos/article/view/3066
A decrease in water potential, both in quality and quantity, will become a problem if it is not managed properly by paying attention to aspects of conservation, utilization, and control. This community empowerment carried out from July to November 2023 is an effort to increase awareness of water resources through preserving water sources to meet the needs of living creatures. The urgency of the main problem is that the water source in Telaga Biru Cicerem, Kaduela Village, Pasawahan District, Kuningan Regency, has been naturally covered with mud, whereas this spring is used as clean water for the village community. The second problem is that clean water sources become cloudy because of mud. The clean water system in this village relies solely on the lake's spring water. These activities of community empowerment are carried out by applying the method of SEPUR (Mud Suction) Technology to improve water quality as well as increase the income of village-owned enterprises in Kaduela Village, Pasawahan District, Kuningan Regency. The results show that mud can be lifted by machines so that the lake water becomes clear, while the resulting mud residue can be used as material for making paving blocks.
Nurdiyanto Akbar Winasis Ramlah Puji Astuti Rendy Yogista Wihardi Ghisya Siti Rochmah Copyright (c) 2024 ETHOS: Jurnal Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat 2024-01-24 2024-01-24 12 1 17 24 10.29313/ethos.v12i1.3066 Education on the Production of Fig Leaves Extract Hand Sanitizer in Cilayung Village, Jatinangor https://journals.unisba.ac.id/index.php/ethos/article/view/2582
Abstract. During the COVID-19 pandemic, people are advised to always wash their hands using soap and running water or hand sanitizer. Concerns about dangerous chemicals in hand sanitizers encouraged us to carry out community service in villages close to our campus, namely Cilayung Village, Jatinangor, West Java. In this activity, we used the fig plant, which was proven to have antibacterial activity. This community service aims to use fig leaf extract as an active ingredient in hand sanitizer. The method used is simple technology on a household scale: boiling fig leaves to obtain an extract, which is then formulated into a hand sanitizer. Before the activity, we optimized the formula of hand sanitizer from fig leaves. During community service, we provide education on fig leaves which have antibacterial activity, accompanied by making your own (do-it-yourself) hand sanitizer that can be used every day. The result, which is assessed through an interactive quiz, shows that education can increase participants’ knowledge regarding the use of fig leaves, and they can process fig leaves into hand sanitizer. The conclusion is that people know the benefits of fig leaves and how to process them into hand sanitizer.
Nyi Mekar Saptarini Resmi Mustarichie Diah Lia Aulifa Rini Hendriani Copyright (c) 2024 ETHOS: Jurnal Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat 2024-01-30 2024-01-30 12 1 25 30 10.29313/ethos.v12i1.2582 Game-Based Learning Media Training for Early Childhood for 21st-Century Teachers https://journals.unisba.ac.id/index.php/ethos/article/view/3181
Abstract. To be able to carry out learning in the digital era, teachers must be literate in technology and information. We are currently in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, which demands harmony between humans and information technology in finding solutions to various problems and creating creative and innovative opportunities. One of the competencies of 21st-century teachers is to develop interactive learning media based on digital technology. However, the reality in the field is that there are limited facilities and infrastructure, so there needs to be another motivation to develop ICT in the learning process of early childhood education (PAUD). This activity uses the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, which is a transformative approach that aims to solve problems and fulfill the orientation on empowerment and practical needs of community change. The training participants are representatives of PAUD teachers in the Astanaanyar sub-district, under the coordination of the POKJA Bunda PAUD Astana Anyar sub-district. The result of this training is the increased ability of teachers to develop learning media in the form of games using the PowerPoint program, commonly known as a presentation application.
Ferry Darmawan Arif Hakim Sophia Novita Copyright (c) 2024 ETHOS: Jurnal Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat 2024-01-30 2024-01-30 12 1 31 42 10.29313/ethos.v12i1.3181 Analyzing the Adoption of SIAKAD Service at Subang University Using UTAUT-3 https://journals.unisba.ac.id/index.php/ethos/article/view/3207
Abstract. Subang University has used the online Academic Information System (SIAKAD) as a technology adoption.
