Abstract. Body mass index (BMI) is a metric currently used to define anthropometric height or weight characteristics in adults. The range of motion (ROM) is the full motion potential of the joint, usually the flexion range and extension. The hip joint is an inferior limb joint. While the knee joint is the largest joint and the superficial joint. It can be known that there is an influence of BMI on the ROM of a human being, especially on the joints of the hip and knees. It is also commonly known that medical students carry out their lecture activities in a sitting position for a long period of time. This can trigger weight gain, thus reducing the ROM of the student. This study aims to determine the connection between BMI and ROM of the hip and knee joints in UNISBA Medical Faculty students. This study is an observational study with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling in this study used the consecutive sampling method and respondent calculations were carried out using a correlation analytical formula, a minimum of 39 respondents were obtained by students of the Faculty of Medicine, Bandung Islamic University and this study has received ethical approval 146 / KEPK-Unisba / V / 2022. This research data was taken from the primer in the form of questionnaires and measurements of degrees in the joints of each student who was a respondent. The results of the research were obtained based on statistical tests, the p value was 0.004 (p < 0.05), which means that there is a relationship between Body Mass Index and knee joint ROM in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Bandung Islamic University Class of 2019.
Abstrak. Indeks massa tubuh (IMT) adalah metrik yang saat ini digunakan untuk mendefinisikan karakteristik tinggi atau berat antropometrik pada orang dewasa. Range of motion (ROM) merupakan potensi gerakan penuh sendi, biasanya rentang fleksi dan ekstensi. Sendi panggul merupakan suatu sendi ekstremitas inferior. Sedangkan sendi lutut merupakan sendi terbesar dan sendi yang superfisial. Dapat diketahui terdapat pengaruh dari IMT ke ROM seorang manusia khususnya pada sendi bagian pinggang dan lutut. Biasa di ketahui juga mahasiswa kedokteran melakukan kegiatan perkuliahannya dengan posisi duduk dalam jangka waktu yang lama. Hal ini dapat memicu penaikan berat badan sehingga mengurangi ROM dari mahasiswa tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara IMT dengan ROM sendi panggul dan lutut pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran UNISBA. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode consecutive sampling dan dilakukan perhitungan responden menggunakan rumus analitik korelasi, didapatkan minimal responden sebanyak 39 mahasiswa fakultas kedokteran Universitas Islam Bandung dan penelitian ini sudah mendapatkan persetujuan etik 146/KEPK-Unisba/V/2022. Data penelitian ini diambil dari dari primer berupa kuesioner dan pengukuran dari derajat pada sendi setiap mahasiswa yang menjadi responden. Hasil dari peneltian didapatkan berdasarkan dengan uji statistik didapatkan nilai p value ialah 0,004 (p < 0,05) yang berarti terdapat Hubungan Indeks Massa Tubuh dengan ROM sendi lutut pada Mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Islam Bandung Angkatan 2019.
