Peran Media Terhadap Fenomena Victim-Blaming dalam Kekerasan Seksual Berbasis Gender

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran media online pedomanbengkulu.com dalam menghadapi fenomena victim-blaming pada berita kekerasan seksual berbasis gender, menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif kualitatif dengan analisis ekologi media. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi wawancara serta dokumentasi. Didapatkan hasil pada media online pedomanbengkulu.com lebih meminimalisir fenomena victim-blaming pada berita kasus kekerasan seksual, dengan memperbanyak jumlah berita, karena pada media online pedomanbengkulu.com banyak rubrik berita yang disediakan, setiap hari kolom-kolom rubrik berita diisi dengan berita yang bermanfaat dan informatif, sehingga tidak perlu membuat berita dengan unsur fenomena victim-blaming dan lebih menerbitkan berita yang informatif dan bermanfaat untuk masyarakat. Saran dari penelitian ini meningkatkan kesadaran dan edukasi bagi pelaku jurnalisme di media online terkait dampak negatif dari victim-blaming serta pentingnya memberikan liputan yang lebih empatik dan sensitif terhadap korban kekerasan seksual. Diharapkan media online dapat menciptakan lingkungan informasi yang aman dan menghormati hak-hak korban kekerasan seksual berbasis gender dengan menghindari fenomena victim-blaming. Langkah-langkah seperti meningkatkan fokus pada pencegahan, edukasi, dan dukungan bagi korban, serta memberikan liputan yang empatik dan sensitif, dapat membangun kesadaran publik yang lebih luas tentang pentingnya mengubah pandangan dan sikap terhadap victim-blaming.
Abstract. This study aims to examine the role of the online media pedomanbengkulu.com in addressing the phenomenon of victim-blaming in news related to gender-based sexual violence, using a qualitative descriptive analysis with a media ecology approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that pedomanbengkulu.com significantly minimizes victim-blaming in its news articles about sexual violence cases by increasing the quantity of informative and beneficial news content, pedomanbengkulu.com offers various news rubrics, which provide useful and informative articles daily. As a result, there is no need to resort to victim-blaming elements in their news coverage, thus promoting informative and valuable content for the community. Recommendations arising from this study include increasing awareness and education among online media journalists about the negative impact of victim-blaming and the importance of providing more empathetic and sensitive coverage to victims of sexual violence. It is hoped that online media can take further steps to create a safe information environment that respects the rights and dignity of gender-based sexual violence victims. In doing so, news coverage can focus on prevention, education, and support for victims, while contributing to a broader public awareness of the significance of changing attitudes and behaviors towards victim-blaming phenomena.
